There are over 1,000,000 animal species that have been classified to date and 15,000 new ones being identified each year according to National Geographic. All of these species, except one, eat raw food and that one is  MAN. As a result humans die at or below half their potential life span. One of the most extensive studies ever undertaken by the U.S. government in 1978 was titled "Diet and Killer Diseases". It concluded that the American diet is responsible for the development of most of the chronic diseases. And this report was conducted 30 years ago. How many more processed, denatured, pre-packaged, dead, chemically laced food have we added since then. 

Humans need to cook their foods in order to digest them.    Unfortunately this idea of cooking has been with us for thousands of years, but it does not mean that it is correct. We as a society began to cook our food well over 40,000 year ago, and we did so because it tasted better than raw food and was easier to chew.    This custom continues today with most of us eating between 90 -100% cooked foods.

In "The great American Rat Experiment" rats were divided into two groups one being fed only raw food and the other only cooked foods. To summarize the raw food group live in harmony, were disease free, they were playful, and had healthy offspring and lived to a mature old age. The group that was fed cooked foods, became fat, contracted most of the diseases of the modern American society,

fought with each other, were vicious snarling beasts, attempted to kill each other and they died prematurely. They had to be kept apart to prevent total destruction of the entire group. Thus it may be concluded that sick people may be restored to health simply by choosing the proper diet, fasting observing the other rules of health. There is no mystery. There is no external force that will help; there are no pharmaceutical cures to major diseases caused by overlooking this fundamental law of nature.– all healing is accomplished within the body in accordance with the laws of organic life and health.
Although in youth the body is able to produce adequate enzymes to digest dead food the ability to produce just one of these enzymes, amylase, decreases 30 fold as the 18 year old matures into an 85 year old person. So at this time the senior is unable to adequately digest starches, which are obviously a major part of our diet. Another reason for eating live foods with their enzymes intact.
Humans need meat to sustain their life.    This is completely false, meat does not do a body good - cooked or uncooked it has no place in the diet of someone who wants to be healthy. You may read articles to the contrary but generally these are sponsored by special interest groups that have a stake in meat production, beside it is inhumane to slaughter animals,
it poisons our bodies, causes premature death but not before crippling us with a host of diseases and turning many of us into prisoners in our own bodies.

And vegetarians get larger amounts of fiber, iron, many vitamins and other cancer-fighting compounds than meat eaters. McDougall points to a recent study in the Archives of Internal Medicine that looked at Seventh-Day Adventists in California, a group made up mostly of vegetarians. The 12-year of study of 34,192 people found that on average, group members lived 10 years longer than the general population and these are people that are probably eating cooked vegetables; imagine the increase in live span of the uncooked group.

Barnard adds that Americans suffer from having too much to eat, not too little. The typical American eats too much fat, cholesterol and animal protein, which contributes to high rates of obesity, heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis and kidney disease.

"Vegetarians have a 40% less risk of cancer and much less risk of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease and other problems that are common among meat eaters," Barnard says.

Vegetarian Diets

 "The federal government and the American Dietetic Association have reported that vegetarian diets are nutritionally sound," says Neal Barnard, president of Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a non-profit organization that focuses on preventive medicine.

Studies have found that vegetarians actually get far better nutrition than non-vegetarians, Barnard says.
